CPSC #03-192, 25Sep03. Blason International is recalling about 700 hand-held hair dryers. Some of these hair dryers do not have an immersion protection device on the power cord and could present a serious electrocution hazard if dropped in water.
Slow Cookers
CPSC #03-160, 17Jul03. Hamilton Beach/Proctor-Silex is recalling about 2.7 million slow cookers. The handles on the base of the slow cookers can break, posing a risk of burns from hot food spilling onto consumers.
Pancake Makers
CPSC #03-139, 5Jun03. Trivett Industries is recalling about 590 Pancake Express pancake makers. The handles on the pancake makers are unable to withstand the heat of the device, causing the handle to fail to provide support because of melting or breaking.
Refrigerators
CPSC #03-533, 7Apr03. Maytag is recalling about 6,000 Kenmore Elite-brand TRIO model refrigerators for testing and replacement. The
refrigerators have the side-by-side upper doors and a freezer drawer at
the bottom of the refrigerator. Sears stores nationwide sold the recalled
refrigerators from Dec. 8, 2002 through Jan. 10, 2003 for between $1,800
and $2,000. A screw located inside the refrigeration compartment on the left side of the refrigerator frame could pierce through the electrical wire harness insulation and pose an electrical shock hazard.
Gas Ranges
CPSC #03-099, 27Mar03. Maytag is voluntarily recalling to repair about 23,000 Gemini gas ranges. The range can experience a delayed ignition flashback fire in the upper oven, which poses a fire and burn hazard to consumers.
Rechargeable Staplers
CPSC #03-017, 17Oct02. Swingline is voluntarily recalling about 11,100 cordless, rechargeable staplers. If a consumer inadvertently releases the spring-loaded staple magazine while holding the stapler close to his/her face, there is a risk of injury from a fully loaded magazine striking a consumer in the face.
Sewing Machines
CPSC #03-007, 8Oct02. Viking Sewing Machines is voluntarily recalling about 11,000 Viking "Designer 1" sewing machines. Solder connections in the main power supply of the sewing machines can overheat, posing a fire hazard.
Hairdryers
CPSC #02-238, 29Aug02. Babyliss Pro is voluntarily
recalling about 23,000 hairdryers. The hairdryers do not have an immersion protection device on the power cord and could present a serious electrocution hazard if exposed to water.

CPSC #02-216, 30Jul02. Remington Products is again announcing the recall of about 3,000 hairdryers. These hairdryers are not equipped with an appliance leakage current interrupter (ALCI) plug to cut off electrical current in case of contact with water. If dropped in water, the hairdryers pose an electrocution hazard to consumers. This recall was originally announced by CPSC and Remington on March 21, 2001.
Juicers
CPSC #02-204, 18Jul02. Aroma Housewares is recalling about 117,000 more juice extractors or juicers. The juicer's filter and lid can break apart and project metal and plastic into the air, causing injuries to consumers.
Range Drip Pans
CPSC #02-197, 9Jul02. Dollar Tree Stores is
voluntarily recalling about 294,000 drip pans. These drip pans are used under the burners of kitchen ranges to catch food that drips while cooking. The hot burners can ignite the drip pans and pose a fire hazard.
Combination Washer and Gas Dryer Units
CPSC #02-192, 2Jul02. Whirlpool is voluntarily recalling about 17,000 combination washer and gas dryer units. The gas dryer can overheat, posing a fire hazard.
Instant Hot Water
Dispensers
CPSC #02-189, 27Jun02. In-Sink-Erator is voluntarily recalling about 252,000 half-gallon instant hot water dispensers. Water can leak from the metal holding tank, wet insulating material and cause electrical arcing and heat build-up. This poses a fire hazard.
Water Coolers
CPSC #02-134, 4Apr02. Crystal Mountain is voluntarily recalling about 12,000 hot & cold water coolers. Approximately eighty percent of the water dispensers were sold in the United States. The hot & cold water dispenser's heater band can short circuit, posing a fire hazard to consumers.
Gas Ranges
CPSC #02-119, 20Mar02. Jade Products is voluntarily recalling to repair about 7,200 Dynasty gas ranges. The ranges could tip-over if a heavy weight is placed on an open oven door, posing a risk of burn injuries from hot food or liquids in cooking containers.
Humidfiers
CPSC #02-116, 7Mar02. Hunter Fan is voluntarily
recalling about 100,000 humidifiers. The motors in these humidifiers can overheat, posing a fire hazard.
Toasters
CPSC #02-099, 07Feb02. Applica Consumer Products is voluntarily recalling about 2.1 million VersaToast wide-slot toasters. Applica made and sold these toasters under the Black & Decker brand. The heating element in these toasters can continue to operate after use, posing a fire hazard.
Gas Ranges
CPSC #02-097, 04Feb02. BSH Home Appliances is voluntarily recalling about 2,460 Thermador brand gas ranges. Hot air is vented below the small oven and causes the metal surface on the door of this oven to get too hot, presenting a burn hazard to consumers.
Dehumidifiers
CPSC #02-096, 31Jan02. Whirlpool is
voluntarily recalling about 1.4 million dehumidifiers. The dehumidifiers can overheat, posing a fire hazard.
Juice Extractors
CPSC #02-041, 15Nov01. Hamilton Beach is voluntarily recalling about 2.4 million juice extractors. The juice extractor's strainer basket and lid can break apart, posing a risk of injury to nearby consumers, who can be struck by metal or plastic.
Gas Ranges
CPSC #02-022, 18Oct01. Wolf Range and Wolf
Appliance are recalling about 15,000 residential gas ranges for repair. [Wolf Appliance Co. acquired the product line in January 2000.] Delayed ignition of gas in the ovens and broilers can put consumers at risk of burn injuries and fires.
Refrigerators
CPSC #02-021, 18Oct01. Norcold is voluntarily
recalling 360 free-standing, combination gas and electric refrigerators. Tubing in the cooling unit can crack and leak flammable gas, presenting a fire and burn hazard to consumers.
Deep Fryer Basket Handles
CPSC #02-019, 18Oct01. National Presto Industries is voluntarily recalling to replace up to 50,000 Presto CoolDaddy electric deep fryer basket handles. The handles on the fryer baskets can come off, resulting in hot oil spattering the user and bystanders.
Microwave-Exhaust Hood Combinations
CPSC #02-018, 16Oct01. Whirlpool is voluntarily recalling about 1.8 million microwave-hood combinations. These units can overheat and catch fire.
Gas Ranges
CPSC #01-236, 26Sep01. Maytag is voluntarily
recalling to repair about 50,000 Amana Big Oven gas ranges. [Maytag acquired Amana Appliances on July 31, 2001.] During the broil and self-clean modes, the range can emit high levels of carbon monoxide (CO), presenting the potential for CO poisoning to consumers.
Additionally, during the broil and self-clean modes, the temperature of the storage drawer can become extremely high, presenting the risk of burn injuries to consumers.
Coffeemakers
CPSC #01-195, 11Jul01. Krups North America is voluntarily recalling about 218,000 automatic drip coffeemakers. An electrical connection in these coffeemakers can overheat and ignite the filter basket support, presenting a risk of fire and burn hazard to consumers.
Percolators
CPSC #01-187, 11Jul01. Atico is voluntarily recalling about 198,000 electric percolators. If
the thermostat fails, the plastic housing of the percolator can overheat and melt while in use, posing a fire hazard.
Thermal/Microwave Ovens
CPSC #01-155, 17May01. BSH Home Appliances is voluntarily recalling about 2,300 Thermador(r) combination thermal/microwave ovens. The oven door may not lock properly when the oven is put into the "self clean" mode.
Home Soda Machines
CPSC #01-151, 10May01. Drinkmaker of Sweden AB is voluntarily recalling about 4,000 home soda-making machines. Components inside the soda machine can break apart, posing a serious risk of lacerations to consumers who can be struck by shrapnel.
Electric Ranges
CPSC #01-145, 09May01. Maytag is voluntarily
recalling about 13,000 Crosley and Magic Chef electric ranges. Liquid can enter the indicator light and can cause sparking and flaming in the light, presenting a fire hazard to consumers.
Portable Dehumidifiers
CPSC #01-130, 19Apr01. LG Electronics is voluntarily recalling about 100,000 Goldstar, General Electric, and Sears Kenmore portable dehumidifiers. These dehumidifiers have an internal electrical connection that can overheat, presenting a potential fire hazard to consumers.

CPSC #01-108, 20Mar01. Jade Products is recalling about 3,300 Dynasty gas ranges. The igniters are too far from the burners, which can cause a delayed ignition of gas. The large amount of gas released can cause fire to escape from the oven, putting consumers at risk of burn injuries and house fires.

CPSC #01-107, 20Mar01. Maytag is recalling about 14,800 Maytag and Magic Chef gas ranges. The vent flue insulation can be out of position on these ranges. Using the broil or self-clean functions on these ranges can cause scorching or burning of the
cabinetry around the range, posing a fire hazard.

Pebco Inc. is voluntarily recalling about 22,500 hairdryers, which have undersized wiring, are not equipped with ground fault circuit interrupters to cut off electrical current in case of contact with water, and have loose electrical connections. The hairdryers pose an electrocution and fire hazard to consumers.

Chest Freezers - VOLUNTARY ONLY
