Contact Adhesive
CPSC #01-199, 16Jul01. Kole Imports is voluntarily recalling about 90,000 packages of contact adhesive. The adhesive contains toluene, which can present a fire and poisoning hazard to consumers. The packaging of this product does not have the required cautionary labeling.
Wood Strippers and Cleaners
CPSC #01-183, 2Jul01. Flood is voluntarily recalling about 18,000 bottles of Flood StainStrip and FloodPro Stripper/Cleaner sold in gallon bottles. Some of these bottles can leak at the cap, allowing the contents to come into contact with consumers. These strippers and cleaners can cause burns to the skin and eyes.
Cleaners
CPSC #01-102, 9Mar01. National Service Industries is voluntarily recalling about 1.4 million bottles of Zep Commercial Cleaner sold in 32 oz. bottles, sold 1/98 to 2/01.
Mislabeled Bleach
CPSC #01-096d, 1Mar01. SuperValu Eastern Region is
voluntarily recalling about 500 bottles of Richfood bleach. The bottles were mislabeled; the clear plastic 32 oz. bottles were labeled bleach, but contained ammonia. If the ammonia is mixed with bleach or acid, irritating or toxic gases could be produced.
Candles With Lead Wicks
CPSC #01-083, 14Feb01. The CPSC voted to begin rulemaking that could lead to a ban on candles with lead-core wicks. CPSC has determined that
candles using lead wicks could present a lead poisoning hazard to young children.
Vinyl Window Blinds
CPSC #00-122, 8June00. Ace Hardware blinds contain lead exceeding government guidelines, and do not have required labeling warning they contain lead, sold approximately 8/99 through 5/00.
